Chinese Painting Pigments: High-Quality Colors for Artists

Some techniques of Chinese painting with ink on paper use simple black ink and some powders to achieve different results. The ‘boneless’ style concentrates on making forms through washes, which is achieved without any outlining. In contrast, the ‘double outline’ technique defines the objects clearly with fine outlines. On the other hand, the ‘splashed ink’ technique attempts to apply ink with little to no control for more spontaneity and self expression. Different cuts or strokes done by an artist are: a ‘center-stroke’ which draws clean, precise lines, and ‘side-stroke’ which produces thick, rough lines.
